Tooth paste can cause osteoporosis, asthma etc! (VIDEO)

Tooth paste can cause osteoporosis, asthma, etc!

Women who are exposed to the soap and the tooth paste are said to develop osteoporosis a study says.

The culprit which is responsible for the health disorders in women is Triclosan (5-chloro-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)phenol, a chemical which is added to some antibacterial soaps and body washes, toothpastes, and some cosmetics. This chemical is said be found in clothing, kitchenware, furniture and toys also.

Previous Researchers who done the studies have found that women with higher levels of triclosan (TCS), have developed bowel cancer and antibiotic resistance, were more likely to have the bone disease(osteoporosis).
This chemical detection in breast milk, urine, and serum have raised concerns regarding its potential association with various human health outcomes.
Osteoporosis is a metabolic bone disease in which a person loses bone mineral density. With the bones weakened, it puts a person at an increased risk for fractures, back pain and loss of height.
In the US, FDA(Food and Drug administration, an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, promotes and protects the public health by, among other things, assuring the safety, effectiveness, and security of human and veterinary drugs, vaccines and other biological products for human use, and medical devices. The agency also is responsible for the safety and security of our nation’s food supply, cosmetics, dietary supplements, products that give off electronic radiation, and for regulating tobacco products.) , has banned triclosan from antiseptic and antibacterial hand rubs and hand washes.
In 2016, the FDA started to restrict the chemical use of triclosan and other chemicals in some consumer products as they were not proved to be safe and effective for long-term daily usage. In April, 2019 the FDA issued a final rule banning it for use in over-the-counter hand sanitizers in the United States.
The new recent study, published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, had analysed data from 1,848 women between 2005 and 2010 and done done urinary analysis and found that those with higher levels of triclosan in their urine were more likely to have bone issues.

Author Yingjun Li, from Hangzhou Medical College School of Public Health in Hangzhou, China, said: “Laboratory studies have demonstrated that triclosan may have potential to adversely affect the bone mineral density in cell lines or in animals.

“However, little is known about the relationship between triclosan and human bone health.

“As far as we know, this is the first epidemiological study to investigate the association between triclosan exposure with bone mineral density and osteoporosis in a nationally representative sample from US adult women.”

The study done on the Triclosan/copolymer containing toothpastes for oral health and hygiene has also proved that

“There was weaker evidence to show that triclosan/copolymer toothpastes may have reduced root caries and calculus, but insufficient evidence to show whether or not they prevented periodontitis.

There do not appear to be any serious safety concerns regarding the use of triclosan/copolymer toothpastes in studies up to three years in duration.”

Another research based study has suggests that triclosan may play a role in cancer development, perhaps through its estrogenicity or ability to inhibit fatty acid synthesis due to its weak xenoestrogen property.

These Xenoestrogens are estrogen-mimicking compounds that are commonly found in personal care products, pesticides, and plastic bottles( like BPA compund , another xenoestrogen compound which is found in the plastic bottles linked to cancer and health hazards).

The activity of xenoestrogens in the human body involves interference with estrogen binding to estrogen receptors, which has implications for estrogen-dependent health outcomes including puberty, reproductive health, and pregnancy.

Xenoestrogens have attracted considerable attention in recent years as potential risk factors for cancer and other outcomes.

TCS was reported to be an endocrine disrupting chemical in multiple species. TCS might also affect immune responses, ROS production, and cardiovascular functions.
Many of these studies observed an association between a rise in TCS exposure and reproductive and developmental defects in infants.

CONCLUSION:

A chemical which is added to some antibacterial soaps and body washes, toothpastes, and some cosmetics. This chemical is said be found in clothing, kitchenware, furniture and toys also named Triclosan.
This component which when accumulated in our body can cause various health hazards like the osteoporosis, cancers, asthma. allergies etc. it is always good to see the ingredients of the products that we purchase and see the labels of the ingredients in them. Though FDA has recently banned the use of this chemical in various products. yet ,self awareness is key to avoid the self induced health problems.
